Andy was born in Santiago, Chile under the regime of ruthless dictator Augusto Pinochet and emigrated with his parents as a baby to Canada. He lived in various cities in Canada up until the age of 6 when his parents finally settled down in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Instead of feeling ostracized, he relished the role of being the only "latin guy in the whole damn school". At the age of 13, his parents decided to move back to Chile even though President Pinochet was still in power. Because of his defined Canadian accent and not being to speak spanish very well, Andy was now considered the "Canadian in Chile". He ended up at a very right wing, catholic, "Pinochet loving" school which marked him going forward. After graduating high school and studying (and dropping out of) engineering after 4 years, Andy decided to move back to Canada in 1998 to study acting and has been living there ever since.

Andy has appeared in various commercials, TV shows a nd movies. Andy has also been storytelling and performing Stand-up since 2006. He has toured western Canada, performed stand-up on TV and XM Radio. He has won various storytelling competitions. Andy also represented Vancouver in the World Storytelling Competition in 2008. Andy performed a one man show at the Fringe Festival in 2013 called "Porn and Pinochet" to rave reviews and packed houses.

"Andy C. is the raw, vital force of comic truth. He is a master storyteller; he leaves no turn unstoned" -William Marchant (VFS Head of Acting)

"Thoughtful, heartfelt and entertaining, Andy Canete's Porn & Pinochet is a refreshingly honest glimpse into a remarkable life lived between two cultures. At times tragic, at times bittersweet and always funny as hell. I've seen it twice and plan to go again." -Dylan Rhymer (CBC Radio, CTV's Comedy Now!)

"Andy Canete is a warm, intuitive, VERY FUNNY storyteller. Heart breaking and Hilarious; a wonderful com bination!"-Deb Williams (Coordinator "The Flame" storytellers)
